Wouldn’t you love to see your business website show up at the top of Google’s search results? Well, duh! Almost every business person will answer the same to that question. However, if you are using your SEO services for small business in the entirely wrong way say goodbye to that wish! Keep reading to learn the top 3 things to never, ever do when it comes to your SEO.
Get ready for it…
The anticipation is building…
The mistakes that most people make when it comes to SEO on their website it using it unnaturally and trying to take advantage of the system. Now, to explain this more there are three different aspects:
1. Keyword Stuffing
Keyword stuffing is when you are using the keyword you are trying to rank for over and over again in your content. For example, we’ve often heard people say things like “Just list out your keywords and put a comma in between them.” No. Don’t do this. Like ever.
2. Being Unnatural
Your content should be as natural as possible. This is where a lot of people get it wrong. You don’t want to sound like a robot! Keep your content sounding as if you were having a conversation with someone. If you can’t read it out loud without sounding awkward or forced then you need to rework that content.
Speaking of robots, here’s a fun video of a cool robot dance in case you were getting bored:
Ok, back to reality….
Also, remember that the keyword you are using for your SEO strategy doesn’t necessarily always have to remain “whole” within your content. It can be spread apart. For example, if your keyword is “ways to save money” you can have sprinkled through your content different variations such as; saving money, save money, save, money, ways to save money, etc.
3. Using Keywords That Are Irrelevant
Now, this will just make people mad. Have you ever been reading something and then BAM, out of nowhere a word like “buy cheap clothes” is sprinkled into an article you are reading about how to decorate your living room, or something of the like? Annoying, isn’t it?! Don’t be one of those websites! In fact, Google will punish you for it and then you really don’t have a chance of being found in the search results.
So stay on topic with what you are talking about and don’t try to add in keywords that are irrelevant. We know it’s tempting to add a keyword in when something is trending but DO NOT DO IT. You will appreciate our advice!
Well there you have it! You now will be a keywording and SEO superstar and surely will not make the #1 mistake that most other people are making. Google may even reward you for this! Now, wouldn’t that be nice?
What’s the silliest thing you have ever heard someone say about keywording a website?
