Sunglass reflectionAre you a reflector or forgetter? With 2013 coming to a close do you find yourself reflecting on the past year or just wanting to forget it and move on to whatever is in store for 2014? I’m a reflector. I love looking back on the year to see what’s been learned, achieved, overcome and enjoyed – both personally, professionally, and socially in the world. It’s been a year since we’ve started blogging about internet marketing here at Half a Bubble Out, so it’s only appropriate I take the time to also reflect on our past blogs and recap the most popular internet marketing tips we wrote about in 2013.

Here’s to 2013: check out this video from Google about the major moments we all experienced in the last year:

Top Searches on Google

We can tell a lot about ourselves as a society by what we search for online. Google’s top trending global search of 2013 was Nelson Mandela, who has been a constant international symbol of strength and peace. But also according to Google, the most searched “What is” question asked by users was “What is twerking.” Not surprisingly it went right alongside the most searched person of the year, Miley Cyrus.  Does this mean at the heart of society, we’re looking for strength and peace, but get lost in silly distractions like a ridiculous looking dance made popular by someone who is trying to find and reinvent themselves? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below.

Top Internet Marketing Related Searches

Grumpy CatIn the internet marketing world Google was the top searched for Fortune 500 company, followed by Facebook and Apple. In case you missed it, the top searched Meme was Zerg Rush and Grumpy Cat topped the list as the most famous internet animal. Tumblr was the top social media site, Black Friday was the most searched for event, Gangnam Style was the most searched for dance moves, and Engadget “a web magazine with obsessive daily coverage of everything new in gadgets and consumer electronics” was the top blog. All of this tells me we have become a technologically advanced people, who like our stuff, but also like to take a break from it all and have a good laugh.
