What is Frequency?
Here at Half a Bubble Out, when we are doing small business consulting we recommend frequency as one of the keys to successful marketing. Maybe that’s an understatement. It’s more like we’re standing on the table SHOUTING that this is the most important thing to have in your marketing (we don’t really shout at our clients, but you get the picture). The rule of thumb for frequency is to get your message out somehow 3 times a week, 52 weeks a year.
The more you hear of something, the more likely you are to recall it right? This seems logical, and research has actually shown that this level of frequency dramatically increases the recall level in the brain. Using the 3/52 method will cement your company into the minds of your customer market, so that when they have a need you come right to the top as the place who can meet that need.
Why is it needed?
Today, we live in a post trust era. People do not give the benefit of the doubt and assume that they can trust just anything they hear. Unfortunately this is for good reason sometimes. One of the things frequency does is allow you to build trust. As you get a consistent (and that part is also key) message out often, and build a reputation as someone who meets customer needs with competence, you will start to build trust and be looked to first when needs arise.
So how can you improve your marketing? By starting now! Come up with a plan to improve your frequency so you can get a consistent message across and become top of mind to your customer market. It requires a consistent perseverance, but is well worth the effort. Your customers will thank you for it.
