For business owners and marketers using MailChimp, there will be an all new MailChimp coming June 17th. MailChimp has been researching and learning how their customers use MailChimp and their email marketing services so that they can launch a new and improved version of MailChimp.
The New Version of MailChimp Will Be:
New Features:
Responsive Design:
MailChimp will be launching a more responsive design that has been optimized for tablets. Get the sneak peak by clicking here!
Navigation and Subscriber Profiles:
Simplified Navigation and Subscriber Profiles. Meaning when you are trying to search for subscribers and view them, you can now see a much easier navigation panel, and if you switch to Pro Mode you will get an even more simplified layout. With this feature you will be able to search for subscriber details, campaigns, lists, and reports from anywhere in the app.
Collaborative Commenting:
Looks like the “We” movement in Pendulum has caught on at MailChimp. The new commenting features inside the editor have marketing teams and businesses very excited. MailChimp discovered that many of their accounts had multiple people working on one email marketing asset and that is why they added a Collaborate feature for teams. You will be able to exchange feedback right inside the editor, view comments in real time, and respond whenever you’re ready. Take a look at the Collaborate feature!
For those of you who are considering an email marketing strategy for your business, we highly recommend MailChimp. They have stellar support, and they help you design email newsletters, share them on social networks, integrate with apps, and track your results.
Make sure your lists are setup and segmented correctly. When you segment your email lists, you use the data that you have about the recipients in your list to create smaller subgroups. You then can send more targeted, relevant emails to those smaller groups helping to increase your results.
This might not seem important to you now, but in the long run it will benefit your business greatly! Think about the emails you will send, who is signing up, and what they think they are getting. The worst thing you can do is send blanketed emails that are not relevant to the email opener. For example, if you sign up for a blog that talks about email marketing, you don’t want to get an automated email that talks about Billboard advertising. You wouldn’t be interested, and would likely unsubscribe from the email list.
This is a simple answer, it’s hard. We know it’s not easy, but trust us, it’s worth the extra time and energy. You will see better results and the pay off is worth it.
According to the Lyris Annual Email Optimizer Report, shared with us by eMarketer , 39% of marketers who segmented their email lists experienced higher open rates, 28% experienced lower unsubscribe rates and 24% experienced greater revenue. So while it might be hard to segment your list, it seems that it's worth some effort to see if you can improve your results.
1. Start Small
If you start by segmenting every single group, and being extra picky you wil get frustrated, confused, and probably give up. Instead of starting with a rubics cube of lists, make it easy on yourself. Start small. Look at the data you already have available. Figure out the most logical groupings based on the information your recipients want from you, the questions they might have, or their stage in the buying cycle.
2. Track Results
Don’t let your efforts go unmeasured. Track and analyze your segments. What are your open rates per group? Unsubscribes? These numbers are a good indicator of how well your lists are segmented. If there is a large number of people unsubscribing then you will want to dive deeper and look at how those people signed up for your list, and what emails they are receiving, then tweak it. Without tracking you are marketing blind.
3. Take the Next Step
Once you have segmented your lists and have a good sense of who your subscribers are, take the next step and get some extra help.
