First off, what is a landing page?
This is where you can utilize Twitter’s free search (which is actually pretty awesome). Most people haven’t ventured to the advanced search section—I highly suggest you do. It’s like it was made specifically to utilize lead generation techniques.
You can put in certain keywords and see who is talking about what, but more specifically you can check a box that finds tweets that are either asking questions, speaking negatively about that topic/product/business or speaking positively.
Once you find someone who is interested in a topic you specialize in or has a question, offer your help and expertise. Start a dialogue if nothing else. What’s the worst that could happen? And most likely if you are offering help or an industry tip that person will be grateful. Do not be spammy or try to sell something right off the bat. Remember your lead generation techniques and the conversion process:
Just like tweeting your landing pages, tweet your blog posts. Also, tweet your blog posts more than once. Don’t be afraid to recycle! Just don’t be repetitive or annoying. Also make sure your blog is still current and relevant to the industry you’re in. If you are doing this make sure you also change up the text that you are tweeting with the link. If you keep posting the same thing some people who are on Twitter all the time will start to notice and you may annoy or lose followers.
Remember, the life span of a tweet is only a few hours at most so many people will have missed your tweet. There is always a limit though. Based on how many followers you have, find yours, so that you know what your tweeting amounts can be. Strategy, people, strategy!
Just like the real world, you need to build and nurture relationships...hmm, isn’t that what lead generation is all about anyway? Bingo! Once you create a relationship on Twitter; say someone retweets you or starts following you, acknowledge it and reach out to that person just like you would in real life. The cyber world isn’t that much different anymore. This is where you can really take advantage of these lead generation techniques you are learning about.
Don’t look like a robot. Get in there and have some fun. Show your followers and potential followers that there is a person behind that Twitter page and not just an automated service. Retweet other people’s tweets, favorite them, comment on them etc. But of course, have a Twitter strategy in place first to know how often you are going to be doing that and so on.
